Welcome to Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church in Grover, North Carolina. We invite visitors and members alike to share in worship, study God’s Word, and find fellowship in our church family.

Our roots in Grover

Shiloh’s story reaches back to the years after the Civil War, when African American worshipers who had belonged to Shiloh Presbyterian Church formed a congregation of their own.

A historic preservation record describes an important milestone in 1885: the Presbyterian congregation appointed trustees to arrange the sale of its former church building to these worshipers for $75. The account connects this early community directly to the church known today as Shiloh A.M.E. Zion.

Our denomination centers its mission on love for God and care for our neighbors. Through worship, Christian education, and service, the A.M.E. Zion Church invites people to grow in faith and put that faith into practice.

A heritage of faith and freedom

The A.M.E. Zion Church is known as the Freedom Church. Its denominational history names Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass among its members, connecting its religious life with the wider struggle for freedom.
